The second stamp issued by the Canvey Local Post and first commemorative issue. Commemorates the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain 1940 and salutes the pilots and aircraft of the period. Hurricanes were a common sight over Canvey Island and the Thames Estuary during the battle, often flying from nearby Rochford airbase and RAF bases in Kent. Stamp shows a surviving Hurricane from this historic battle now flying with the RAF Battle of Britain Flight. Non-value Indicated for 'Cycle' or Express Mail. [Image not actual size]
